When Utah Jazz center Enes Kanter made his first appearance in his team’s game against the Phoenix Suns during the second quarter, little did he know that a mere few minutes later he would suffer a ghastly shoulder dislocation. To be honest, at first look, the play that resulted in the injury appeared fairly innocuous. Kanter simply was going to the floor in an effort to gain control of a loose ball in a scrum against Hamed Haddadi. But the manner and force in which his left shoulder bounced off the floor after it became tangled up with Haddadi’s arm must have been severe, as it knocked it clear out of joint, resulting in the horrible-looking image you see in the above screengrab, where it appears that not only is his arm dangling loosely like a sausage in the window of a deli, but it looks like the bone is just about to break right through the skin. Not pleasing to the eye to say the least, nor did it feel very good for Kanter, who cringed and winced in agony as he delicately clutched his shoulder and made his way off the court, saying afterward that “It disconnected after I fell to the ground and the other guy fell on my arm.” Yep. Gotcha. If the above image didn’t make it clear enough, the video of the injury might not for the squeamish. Yikes. The Salt Lake Tribune reports that Kanter will undergo an MRI on Thursday to determine the severity of the injury and how much time he will be forced to miss. But if the nasty image of him cradling his shoulder and how the bone was disturbingly pressing against his flesh, it’s safe to assume he’s going to be out a few games.
