Vince started out cold last night, but picked it up as the game progressed
After a pair of tough losses to the Grizzlies and Rockets earlier this week, the Nets were able to bounce back and take down the lowly Hornets down in New Orleans on Tuesday. Looking to build off the momentum from that win, Brooklyn headed home to Barclays Center to face the Dallas Mavericks, a team that they--through the D-Will free agency rumors--have been linked to a lot in recent years. The Nets were hoping to get a much-needed win against a sub-.500 team in Dallas. However, that was not what would happen last night at Barclays.
It was another classic Nets game in which the first half was fine, but the third quarter was absolutely dreadful. In that period, the Nets completely fell apart, getting outscored by 15 in the 12-minute period alone. Increasing their lead as the game progressed into the fourth, the Mavs kept hitting more shots, enough to weather a late Nets run that would prove to be futile.
Some other observations I had from the game: Joe Johnson finally made his return to the floor after missing three straight games. Wasn't too effective, scoring only 11 points.....Brook Lopez and Deron Williams led the way yet again, scoring 19 and 24 points respectively. Outside of those two, P.J. Carlesimo didn't get much from anyone else on his squad.
The Nets are back at it again tonight, heading to Chicago to face off with the Bulls.
