Now, this is a series. Knicks and Celtics go back to Boston for Game Six on May 3rd at 7:00 pm. Boston won last night 92-86. The Celtics looked really good, while the Knicks looked lackluster to say the least. After going up 3-0, the Knicks are traveling back to Boston up just 3-2. Let's not choke here, fellas. A couple thoughts and notes on the Celtics' win. Kevin Garnett's Great Game Garnett was great in this game. Not only did he help create foul trouble for the Knicks big men (Martin and Chandler had a combined five fouls before the eight minute mark in the second quarter), but he also finished with 16 points, 18 rebounds, and five assists. His ability to effect both sides of the court was one of the big reasons why Boston won this game. Jason Terry Again 17 points. 5 three-pointers. Terry off the bench making a huge contribution after being non-existent in the first three games. Knicks And The Pace I found myself at times begging the Knicks to pu...

Kevin Garnett Continues to Give Epic Post-Game Interviews

Kevin Garnett does not give very many interviews with the media. However, the grizzled Celtics veteran continues to give epic interviews after games.”We out here scrappin,” said Garnett after he lead his Celtics back from the dead with a 16-point, 18-rebound game to defeat the New York Knicks 92-86. Garnett then made some pretty fantastic construction metaphors to describe what...

Celtics Kevin Garnett: “We’re Out Here Scrappin”

Last night the Knicks showed their immaturity, as they focused more on childish antics oppose to ending the series with the Boston Celtics. Kevin Garnett, who helped the Celtics propel grabbing 18 rebounds- marking his third straight game with 17 or more rebounds, had a few choice words after the game. CSNNE’s Greg Dickerson asked Garnett what was the difference with the Celtics...

Kevin Garnett is rebounding at a historic rate, and he's getting better as the series goes on

In Game 1 of this series Kevin Garnett scored 8 points and grabbed 9 rebounds.  In Game 2 he posted 12 and 11, Game Three 12 and 17, Game Four 13 and 17, and in Game 5 he had 16 points and 18 boards.  At this pace should we expect a 20/20 game from him tonight? Garnett's 14.4 rebounds per game lead the entire league this postseason.  He's the first Celtic player to pull...

Questions regarding the futures of Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett are right around the corner

Time to move onward? Yesterday Jackie MacMullan wrote a piece for ESPN Boston entitled "Paul Pierce not giving up the ship."  She touches on Pierce's contributions and struggles this series, and notes that each remaining game could be his last as a Celtic.  MacMullan also gives a sobering reality check regarding the current state of the team: "We all know...

Ticket to Game Six

With the clock ticking down and the Knicks climbing back into the game, Kevin Garnett showed a series of pump fakes, got airspace from Tyson Chandler, and made a deep two point jumper to put Boston ahead by seven with 48 seconds to go. Garnett was pushing 40 minutes of playing time, but his energy and focus was there when the Celtics needed it most. The "Big Ticket" finished...

Brandon Bass is the Surprise Star as Celtics Lead Game 5 45-39

NEW YORK – Kevin Garnett is stepping up on both ends o carry the Boston Celtics to a 45-39 halftime lead over the New York Knicks in Game 5. The Celtics, down 3-1 in the series, got off to the type of deflating start that has become synonymous with the phrase “second half” over the past week. But Brandon Bass hit all four of his shots and played good defense on Carmelo Anthony...

Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett Go Out With Bang, If This Indeed Turns Out to Be Their Last Stand

BOSTON — As the Celtics players and coaches staggered off the court, their bid for a couple of historic comebacks having fallen short in a brutal Game 6, Kevin Garnett made a beeline for his coach of six years. Garnett, dripping with perspiration after another of his age-defying performances, exchanged some personal words with Doc Rivers. Afterward, while addressing the media,...

Comments from the Other Side - Knicks Game 5 5/1

Knicks fans are hysterical.   So boastful and full of themselves at the beginning and  all their players are the best ever.   They start losing the game and all their players are all losers and should be cut.    And when all else fails, blame the refs.   Pretty much, the officiating wasn't all that bad in this game.  The Knicks shot 3 more free throws than the Celtics...

Underrated Stat of the Night - Game 5

Tonight's game 5 over the Knicks was probably this team's sweetest victory since game 5 of last year's conference finals. They went into a loud MSG filled with bandwagon fans and stuck-up players. And they did exactly what I expected, they won with their maturity. Even when they trailed by 11 in the first quarter, they were relaxed. On the court, the sky was falling....

Celtics fans chant “Honey Nut Cheerios” at Carmelo Anthony

Back in January, Boston Celtics forward Kevin Garnett made the term “Honey Nut Cheerios” into a whole new thing after he spent some time trash-talking Carmelo Anthony about his wife, La La Vazquez. Flash-forward to today, Celtics fans decided to serenade Carmelo with those exact words as he made his way to the Knicks bench area during game six of their first-round playoff series...

5 Things Celtics must do to win tonight - Game 5

Tonight, the Celtics will play another elimination game. But now this one's in New York, where it's much harder to win. But if they're gonna win this series, the Celtics will have to win at MSG twice. Tonight's number one. Here are the five things: 5. MORE SHOTS FOR BASS: In Game Four, Brandon Bass scored just 4 points on 2/3 shooting in 30 minutes of play. I don...

Jason Terry and David Ortiz are neighbors and yeah they've talked 2004

The Red Sox comeback against the Yankees in 2004 was one of the greatest, if not the greatest, sporting events I'd ever witnessed in person. Now, almost 10 years later, another Boston team is trying to do the same thing against New York. Can they do it? The odds are obviously extremely doubtful. On top of the fact that no NBA team has ever come back from an 0-3 deficit before...

Boston Celtics rally but come up short, fall to New York Knicks 88-80

I had a recap written, a morose send off to a lost season, but like so many times before the Celtics made me tear the whole thing up. When Avery Bradley stole the ball and cut the lead to four I believed, in that moment I doubted the obituary I had resigned myself to writing and though the C’s came up short I wonder what comes next. When the Knicks’ lead ballooned to twenty I...

Can the Celtics recreate Boston sporting history?

Less than a week ago, the Boston Celtics trailed 3-0 in the series against age-old rivalries, the New York Knicks. Instead of submitting to defeat, the Celtics moved a step closer to doing the unthinkable when on Wednesday night they defeated the Knicks 92-86 in Game 5 of their best-of-seven series. Trailing 3-2, the Celtics will show their worth tonight in Boston in Game 6 and if...
