With rumors of Kevin Love exiting Minnesota coming to surface and David Lee becoming a possible trading piece, the Golden State Warriors have a lot to think about during the off-season. No picks, No problem Unfortunately, the Warriors do not have any draft picks in the 2014 NBA Draft because they traded them away. In order to clear up enough cap space for the eventual signing of Andre Iguodala, Golden State traded Andris Biedrins, Richard Jefferson, Brandon Rush and a first-round pick in the 2014 draft to the Utah Jazz last July. Golden State also traded a second-round pick to the Minnesota Timberwolves for cap space purposes. The acquisition of Andre Iguodala was indeed a great pickup but now the franchise cannot have any fun on draft day…bummer! Unless, of course, the Warriors spice up draft night with a trade proposal. Rumors going around the NBA say the Orlando Magic and Golden State could discuss a trade involving Warriors power forward David Lee. Although Lee may not be considered as an entertaining player, this guy puts up star numbers. Lee averaged 18.2 points and 9.3 rebounds this season. He is practically a walking double-double, which makes him a huge target if he was to be placed on the trade market. Is David Lee on his way out of Golden State? The Magic have the fourth pick in the upcoming draft and it is widely known that they are looking forward to grabbing a gem in the draft to makeup for a couple of down seasons. However, if the Warriors could coax the Magic into trading the fourth pick in exchange for David Lee, it would be a win-win situation. In essence, the Warriors would be getting rid of Lee’s hefty 2014-2015 salary of $15,012,000 and the Magic would gain one of the NBA’s brightest power forwards to go along with Magic center Nikola Vucevic. Kevin Love or David Lee? Just about anybody who is a die-hard NBA fan has been ranting about where Kevin Love is going to end up after he leaves Minnesota. Love said he is going to finish out this next year before he decides on where he wants to take his talents to but take that with a grain of salt. Let some teams throw in some lucrative trade offers or formulate a nice supporting cast for Love to fall back on. Mr. Love could possibly come to his senses and get the heck out of Minnesota! What’s the point of staying with a franchise stained with defeat time after time? The whole “I want to be loyal” thing is great and all but Love is too good to keep missing out on the postseason and that is precisely why Love should go to the Golden State Warriors. Steve Kerr is an offensive-minded man. Kerr was the general manager of the Phoenix Suns before taking the job as the Warriors head coach earlier this month. It doesn’t get much more offensive than Phoenix Suns basketball! With that being said, Love should not go to defensive-minded teams who will pursue him like the Chicago Bulls, who have been recognized as a potential landing spot for Love. Love belongs in an uptempo system such as the Warriors’ system because of his offensive prowess. Don’t put the shackles on him in a place like Chicago, who by the way, averaged a league-low 93.4 points as a team during the regular season. Perhaps the Warriors could look into trading Lee and a couple of other players for Love in the future. Lee is a great power forward but Love is probably a better fit for the run-and-gun style of play that the Warriors have become accustomed to over the years. Plus, Love is arguably one of the top five players in the NBA. Anybody in their right mind would take Love over Lee. Overview Golden State may not have any draft picks coming up in June but that does not mean the summer cannot be interesting for the franchise. Maybe the trade rumor involving Lee’s departure could be more than just a rumor. Can the Warriors grab a couple of youngsters out of the draft pool via trade? Is Love headed back to his birthplace of California to continue his career? The Warriors sure do have a lot going on. Hey, they do play in “The Golden State”, which means it is only right for this franchise to be in the spotlight in the off-season.       The post Golden State Warriors: Stirring up the Pot appeared first on isportsweb.
