Former Louisville center Gorgui Dieng made his NBA preseason debut with the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday night.
The T-Wolves had their first preseason game earlier in the week; however Dieng didn’t see any action.
In twelve minutes of action, Dieng had two points, two rebounds and one blocked shot as Minnesota defeated the Toronto Raptors 101-89.
T-Wolves head coach Rick Adelman spoke very highly of Dieng following the game, saying that he was very impressed with his ability to remain calm on the floor.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Dieng continues to see limited minutes in preseason ac tion. While it’s good to get rookies some early experience, most NBA teams spend a lot of the preseason evaluating guys who they’re considering signing long term. With Deing being a first round pick, he’ll at least be with the team for another two seasons.
