Throughout the past few weeks we’ve been keeping you in the loops on former Louisville big man Gorgui Dieng’s success this past month with the Minnesota Timberwolves.
After not playing much at all prior to the All Star break, Dieng became a double-double machine for the T-Wolves, while starting center Nikola Pekovic was injured.
On Tuesday evening, the NBA named Dieng the Western Conference Rookie of the Month.
Gorgui ranked fifth among Western Conference rookies in scoring (8.6 ppg) and second among all rookies in both rebounding (8.3 rpg) and field goal percentage (.613).
In three games in the month of March, Dieng shot 100% from the floor. He collected five double-doubles during March, including a 22-point, 21-rebound effort in a loss to the Houston Rockets.
