LM Otero – Associated Press At this time last year, former Louisville big man Gorgui Dieng was helping guide the Cards to their third national championship in school history. These days Dieng is helping hold down the paint for the Minnesota Timberwolves. After a very slow start to his rookie season, Dieng has been playing very well as of late. Minnesota starting center Nikola Pekovic has been injured for the past week and Dieng has been starting in his place. It would be an extreme understatement to say that Dieng is making the most of his opportunity. Dieng has recorded double-double’s in four of the past five games that he has started. He become the first Minnesota rookie in franchise history to record a 20-&-20 game this past Thursday when he finished with 22 points and 21 rebounds against the Houston Rockets.
