When the Memphis Grizzlies dealt away their leading scorer, they were criticized for “giving up” on a season where they had a real chance. They responded by going 17-6 without Rudy Gay, and they have become even more of a contender in the last few weeks. Their recent success gets overshadowed by the current win streaks going on in the NBA. The Miami Heat, and to a lesser extent, the Denver Nuggets, are getting recognition as the hottest teams in the league right now, but Memphis should not be ignored. They are coming off a big overtime win last night against Oklahoma City, and are really responding to anyone who said they lost their shot when they let Gay go. "Everyone said, 'They're done; they're going to fall to the sixth, seven, eight seed,' " said Grizzlies power forward Zach Randolph. "It got our motor pumping, and we dropped a few games. But then we started playing and getting our identity back, and the guys we brought in started getting...
BEST OF MAXIM
Memphis Grizzlies center Marc Gasol accidentally kneed Oklahoma City Thunder forward Nick Collison in the groin during Wednesday night's NBA game at the FedEx Forum.
Gasol had his knee out in front of him as he was attempting a jump shot near the basket, and Collison jumped in the air to block the shot. Collison was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

It is hard at this point in a lost season to find the motivation to put it all on the floor. There doesn’t seem to be anything important to play for, other than pride and individual stats, but the Toronto Raptors would be wise to finish the year as strong as they possibly can.
Marc Gasol tipped in Zach Randolph's miss with less than a second left in overtime to give the Memphis Grizzlies a 90-89 victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday night.
In a game that had all the intensity of a playoff matchup, Jerryd Bayless connected from the top of the key for Memphis with 3.7 seconds left in regulation to send the teams into overtime tied at 83...
Razzball Nation! So if you’re reading this you’re probably in the playoffs of your fantasy league, but if not and you read for my mere musings and devilishly witty forays into the intricacies of the English language (and obtuse adjective overuse), then huzzah! And huzzah for a site like DraftKings.com where you can draft a new line-up every day and play the matchups...
Like drafting Bernard Berrian, Lee Evans, or Josh Johnson on your fantasy team, some things, no matter how hard you try not to have them happen, just always seem to happen. My kryptonite is watching the movie Step Up 2: the Streets and if it’s on TBS during the middle of the day you can be sure that I’m going to watch for an extended period of time.
What it is about the movie...
It became clear during Amir Johnson’s interview with NBA TV Canada Tuesday that DeMar DeRozan has been taking a few pages out of Chris Bosh’s book. Here’s the Raptors guard pulling off a pretty spectacular videobomb.
IN THE CLUTCH
The Memphis Grizzles and the Oklahoma City were in a tightly contested match that went into overtime Wednesday night, and would come down to the last possession with 13.6 seconds remaining on the shot clock. It would be Marc Gasol who would be Memphis’ hero who tipped in the ball off of a Zach Randolph [...]The post Marc Gasol Defeats OKC Thunder With Game-Winning Tip-In (Video...
Just a couple of kids having fun playing basketball.
Last night Jonas Valanciunas dropped 18/8/2 with 2 steals and 2 blocks in 31 minutes. I looked at the box score to make sure there were not obvious reasons for such a line, you know, like an injury, a blow out, etc. and, sure enough, there was no obvious outlier! Here’s what I told you last week when he wasn’t playing great but sometimes you have to look past that. You have...
The Memphis Grizzlies have won nine straight at home as they get ready to welcome a Boston Celtics team that has dropped three straight.
The Celtics, however, have won their last five visits to the FedEx Forum as they try to avoid being swept by the Grizzlies for the first time in 12 years Saturday night.
Both teams are seeking to bounce back from Friday road defeats. Memphis ...
