Golden State Warriors
Los Angeles Clippers
OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) -- Marc Gasol and Mike Conley both scored 21 points, and the Memphis Grizzlies spoiled Golden State's home opener with a 104-94 victory Friday night after Warriors forward Brandon Rush injured his left knee in a scary fall.
Rudy Gay added 18 points and eight rebounds and Zach Randolph had 15 points and 14 rebounds to help Memphis rebound from a loss at the Los Angeles Clippers two nights earlier.
Randolph's foul on Rush in the first quarter unintentionally injured the Warriors forward, putting a damper on Golden State's first game at Oracle Arena this season. Rush held back tears and had to be helped off the court. He was scheduled to have an MRI on Saturday.
The Warriors went down 14 points following the injury, then scored 15 straight to take a 39-38 lead before the Grizzlies ran away with the victory in the second half.
Stephen Curry scored 26 points and had seven assists and reserve Carl Landry added 20 points for Golden State on a night all ...
BEST OF MAXIM
The Golden State Warriors can ill-afford injuries at this point. They are trying to claw their way out of the basement, and to do so they will need every piece healthy. Unfortunately, the team may have lost Brandon Rush to a significant knee injury. He landed awkwardly on his left knee in the first quarter of the team's loss to the Memphis Gizzlies and had to leave in...
Golden State Warriors forward Brandon Rush had to be helped off the floor after he injured his left knee against the Memphis Grizzlies in Friday night's home opener.
Rush leaped in the air for a dunk when Zach Randolph fouled him with 4:09 left in the first quarter. Rush landed awkwardly, his knee bent badly and he tumbled to the floor.
Rush got up on one leg immediately, waved...
Until December, Andrew Bogut will only be able to play 20 minutes per game.credit: sbnation.com
After acquiring Andrew Bogut from Milwaukee last season in exchange for Monta Ellis, the Warriors have been hoping that he can be the centerpiece big man they have been lacking. With a lot of offensive minded players on the team, Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, and David Lee, the team badly...
I can’t honestly claim to have met Andrew Bogut, but he seems like a fine Australian gentlemen. With his endearing accent and charming wit, he comes across as the sort of fellow that would never be hard pressed to find a high five. However, in 2008, it became evident that this is not the case. Many of you probably recall Bogut’s comical reaction when his teammates failed...
The Golden State Warriors had to deal with adversity on and off the court to pull out a victory over the Los Angeles Clippers and put a happy ending on a difficult day.
Stephen Curry and reserve Carl Landry had 23 points apiece, and the Warriors held off the Clippers for a 114-110 victory on Saturday night.
''We don't quit,'' coach Mark Jackson said. '&...
On paper, the Golden State Warriors have a solid team. They seem to be on the rise. Unfortunately, their stock has plummeted with news of Brandon Rush's injury. For the second time in his career, Rush has a torn knee. In 2007, he tore his right ACL. Now, it's his left. Rush was injured on Friday against the Memphis Grizzlies. Yesterday, the injury was confirmed...
The Philadelphia 76ers have hired Aaron Barzilai as their analytics director.
Barzilai had served as analytics consultant for the Memphis Grizzlies since 2009. He was the sole advanced analytics consultant for the team and reported directly to general manager Chris Wallace. He assessed potential transactions, including trades, free-agent signings and draft picks.
Barzilai is the...
LOS ANGELES -- Playing without star center Andrew Bogut, the Golden State Warriors came into Los Angeles and stole a 114-110 victory over the previously unbeaten Clippers. "It's just a great win for us. A great win for us," Golden State head coach Mark Jackson said. "I'm extremely proud of my guys." Carl Landry came off the bench for Golden State to...
Warriors forward Brandon Rush is expected to be out for the rest of the season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament suffered in Friday's game against Memphis, the San Francisco Chronicle reported Saturday night. "It's devastating, but we'll put a plan together with the Warriors' medical team, and we'll get him back to 100 percent," Rush's agent...
Since being made the second overall pick by the Memphis Grizzlies in 2009, Hasheem Thabeet has recorded just 15 assists. With his hilariously-poor assist-to-turnover ratio of .217, one doesn’t really expect Thabeet to make any sort of pass that ends up in the hands of a teammate, let alone a between-the-legs dish that leads directly to a scoring opportunity (and for his own team...
The Clippers opened their ’12- ’12 season on Wednesday night at Staples Center. Expectations are high for the Clips after making it to the second round of the playoffs last season and igniting a rivalry with the Memphis Grizzlies. For game one of the season, the NBA decided to have us revisit by having the [...]
The Golden State Warriors seem to be buying into a different approach - similar to the one that worked for the Memphis Grizzlies last season.
Unlike Memphis, Golden State used a strong defensive effort to win its season opener and will try to continue that trend Friday night to avoid a seventh consecutive loss to the Grizzlies.
While the Warriors look to open 2-0 for just the second...
Brandon Rush was fouled in the air by Zach Randolph and landed awkwardly.
By Dave Del Grande OAKLAND -- Zach Randolph assures nobody was going to stop him Friday night. "Not security. Nobody," he declared afterward. The veteran power forward wasn't talking about his 15-point, 14-rebound performance in the Memphis Grizzlies' 104-94 road win over the Golden State Warriors. Rather, he was referring to leaving the court late in the...
