Hard for the Yard:
One of my regrets from childhood is the fact that I always hated on Michael Jordan. Not usually. Not occasionally. Always. I exhausted so much energy cheering against the guy, and what a waste of time that was, that I never took the time to appreciate what he was doing for the sport, and what he was doing for the next generation of ballers. And don't forget the scores of kids in the projects who don't really feel like rocking $7.99 Starburys, ya feel me?!! Jordans or bust, yo.
As I've grown older, I've learned to appreciate phenomenal athletes, even when I'm not exactly a huge fan: Tiger, King James, Manny Being Manny, Tom Brady. There is a spectrum. I always cheer against Brady and Manny. Usually King James also. (I'm a Kobe fan.) But I respect the guys. I often cheer for Tiger, but not always, and mostly I don't watch golf anyway. Still, it's tough not to respect what the T-Man does. A living legend.
