Hawks show evolution in Wednesday's 2OT win

ATLANTA Hawks coach Larry Drew said he has witnessed the panic disappear from his players eyes. In the past, if the Hawks began to lose a big lead, he could hear the negative talk in the huddle during a timeout. He could sense the nervous energy, as if waiting for something bad to happen. Even though they have been a playoff team for five seasons running, the Hawks tended to come...

ATLANTA - Josh Smith and Al Horford dragged themselves off the court, exhausted, barely able to manage a feeble fist bump. And barely able to laugh at each other as they did. The Atlanta Hawks had just blown a 22-point lead in the fourth quarter but scraped out a 126-119 double-overtime win over the Detroit Pistons Wednesday night at Philips Arena. "A couple of times I...

As Greg Monroe quietly toils

It is OK if you do not know much about Greg Monroe. He is kind of a quiet guy to begin with, but playing for the 9-21 Pistons pushes him further into the shadows. As the calendar turns to 2013, it might be time to see the improvement this third-year player is making and the growth coming from the multi-talented center. He already has his first career triple double, scoring 21...

Atlanta (17-9) endured one of its worst stretches this season...

The Starting Lineup: JR Smith Does It Again!
