Atlanta defeated the Magic 89-87 in OT from Orlando in the first meeting of the two since their playoff series last season. While it was a terrific game, Orlando had every chance to win it, but 3′s by Jason Richardson and Jameer Nelson both missed. I really don’t want to discuss this, as I would bring up the resilience that’s characterized this team all season. Instead, there is news brewing off the court. The first is Atlanta signed Erick Dampier to a 10-day (or tryout) contract. It’s their effort to solve the missing depth at center with Al and Jason Collins injured. Early word that Erick would go through some plays and possibly be called upon to stop Dwight Howard. Uh, no. Erick only played less than two minutes and didn’t attempt a shot. We’ll see how he does Sunday when the Heat come calling. The other is the, okay, I’ll just go ahead and say it, snub of Josh Smith for the All-Star game. Joe Johnson got a berth, but Josh was left off an...

Price helping Howard solve free throw woes

Mark Price is the greatest free throw shooter in NBA history. Beginning with his rookie year in 1986, and for the next 12 seasons, Price was almost automatic at the foul line, making 90.4 percent of his 2,362 attempts. Dwight Howard is the premier center in the NBA today, sure to go down in history as one of the greatest big men of all time. The only flaw in Dwight's game is...

Howard wants the ball more in the fourth

MILWAUKEE, Wis. -- Dwight Howard wants the ball in the fourth quarter. He wants to be the closer. He wants to show why he's known as Superman. Unfortunately for the six-time All Star and soon-to-be free agent, that didn't happen Saturday night in Milwaukee. Howard touched the ball only six times on offense in the fourth quarter, with one of those coming from his own offensive...

Still close, still so far

The Magic are certainly on a bit of a roll right now. Winners of four of five games entering Friday's matchup, Orlando had put behind one of the worst stretches of play any team has had in recent years. None of that would matter with an old nemesis returning to the Amway Center. These are different teams, but the specter of last year's bitter postseason exit still hangs...

DeVos Doesn't Want To Trade Howard

Magic-Bucks Preview

Dwight Howard is the Orlando Magic's lone All-Star this season, and the Milwaukee Bucks know all about the center's exploits. Orlando is hoping they can begin capitalizing on his production again. Howard looks to help the Magic rebound from another overtime defeat Saturday night when they try to continue their success against the Bucks. Howard is averaging 20.9 points...

Richardson's 9 3s rally Magic by Bucks (AP)

Jason Richardson scored 28 of his season-high 31 points in the second half and made nine 3-pointers to lead the Orlando Magic to a 99-94 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks on Saturday night. The Bucks limited Dwight Howard to 11 points and 14 rebounds, but had no defense for Richardson, who unleashed a barrage of 3-pointers in the second half that helped Orlando erase a 10-point fourth quarter...
