Hinrich
Hawks guard Kirk Hinrich, who has missed the first 17 games of the season while recovering from left shoulder surgery, says he hopes to return on Atlanta's upcoming five-game trip. Hinrich started in 22 of his 24 games with Atlanta last season after he was traded to the Hawks from Washington. He averaged 10.2 points and 4.0 assists overall. Hinrich had surgery in November and he is trying to beat his projected recovery time of three to four months. He said before Saturday night's game against Cleveland he will be with the Hawks on their road trip which begins Monday at Milwaukee. ''I hope I'll be playing sometime on this trip,'' he said. Jeff Teague has taken over as Atlanta's starting point guard.

Atlanta Hawks: Sixers 90, Hawks 76

Philadelphia–Maybe after he watches the video and sleeps on it, Larry Drew will regret the choice of words. But he was unambiguous about his feelings in the immediate aftermath of his team’s second-half collapse. Asked what happened in the third quarter, Drew said: “It got tough for us in the third quarter and we quit. That’s what happened.” Harsh words...

ATLANTA (AP) -- Joe Johnson scored 25 points and the Atlanta Hawks, coming off a loss that prompted their coach to say they quit, responded with their highest scoring output of the season in a 121-94 rout of the Cleveland Cavaliers on Saturday night. Johnson scored 19 of his points in the first half for Atlanta, which sat all its starters in the final quarter. Jannero Pargo, who...

WFNY: Cavaliers Get Smashed In Atlanta, Have Lost Last Three By Seventy-Six Points

I posted my thoughts following the Cavaliers 121-94 loss to the Atlanta Hawks on Saturday over at WFNY earlier this morning. Below is an excerpt of that: On Tuesday Stephen Curry did not play for the Golden State Warriors when they traveled to Cleveland. On Friday Derrick Rose didn’t play in Cleveland either, and on Saturday All Star Center Al Horford was sidelined for the Cavs...

Hawks lose to Sixers

A four game winning streak went down in flames as Atlanta lost to the resurgent 76ers 90-76. This was the first loss since Al Horford went down and comes on the front end of a back-to-back. Atlanta will hustle to the airport to get back home and play Cleveland tomorrow night. After that will be a critical five-game road trip. None of those games will be consecutive, but they will...

Cavaliers at Atlanta Hawks: Game thread

Hawks coach Larry Drew did not use the word “quit” again to describe the Hawks’ performance Friday night at the 76ers. However, the coach did not back off his post-game comments. Drew would not single any particular player out. He also said he has not address the team following his post-game comments. Here are some quotes from Drew during his pre-game interview...

Atlanta Hawks: Drew says Teague still the starter once Hinrich returns

Milwaukee–Kirk Hinrich says he will practice tomorrow in San Antonio. If all goes well, he plans to play Wednesday at the Spurs. “I’m excited,” he said. “It’s just a matter of how sore it will be the next day [after practice].” Once Hinrich is activated, the Hawks will have to make a roster move. The candidates to be released are Ivan Johnson...

Quote of the Day -- January 21, 2012

Larry Drew: "It got tough for us in the third quarter and we quit. That’s what happened."Strong words following a game where your team allowed just a point per possession on the road against a team that ranks in the top five in the league in offensive efficiency. The Hawks shot the ball poorly and rebounded worse (or vice-versa, I wouldn't argue the particulars) but...
