Atlanta Hawks’ guard Lou Williams participated in contact drills on Tuesday for the first time since beginning rehab on his torn ACL and is getting closer to returning.
As reported by Chris Vivlamore of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the Hawks will evaluate Williams to see how he responded to the drills. The next step in the recovery process will be full five-on-five drills. Williams has been playing three-on-three and four-on-four. Coach Mike Budenholzer feels Williams is getting better and approaching the point of return.
“He’s getting closer.”
Although Budenholzer feels confident in Williams’ progress, he is still about a month away from returning to game action. Williams injured his right knee on January 18 against the Nets, so a return in the next month would put Williams at the 11 month mark following the injury.
The return of Williams will be welcome, as the team is thin in the back court. Kyle Korver and John Jenkins are the only other shooting guards on the roster. K...
