The focus prior to last night’s Game 4 of the NBA Finals was LeBron James. That is usually the case for the Miami Heat whenever they have a must win game in the playoffs. LeBron had been unable to get going offensively and the debate was whether or not James would be able to go off and score 35+ on the Spurs last night. I didn’t think James could do it as it looked like the Spurs knew exactly how to stop him, but he came close, scoring 33 points. However, coming out of last night’s game, he was not the story. The story was about the resurgence of Dwyane Wade. The 2013 NBA Playoffs had been a nightmare for Wade. He couldn’t hit a shot to save his life, he couldn’t effectively drive to the lane, and even when he did, he was missing layups. It was astonishing to see how quickly Wade had turned into just another guy. Of course, injuries have something to do with that, but if you are out on the court, then you are expected to perform, injuries be damned.
