Battier's claim prompts different trash talk

MIAMI Academic trash talking has hit the NBA. Two foes battled fiercely on the court Wednesday night at AmericanAirlines Arena. But their war of words wasnt about which team won or which player had the better game. It was about who is better at general knowledge. It all started when Miami forward Shane Battier claimed two weeks ago he can beat any player in the NBA in Jeopardy...

Udonis Haslem set to crash Heat record books

MIAMI Miami lost its first seven games in 2003-04. But there was plenty of reason for the Heat to believe bad times wouldnt last long. Dwyane Wade was showing as a rookie he would pan out as the No. 5 pick in the draft. And there was another rookie, one not even drafted, who gave the Heat further reason to salivate. During those seven Heat losses, forward Udonis Haslem played...

House impressed by 138-point outburst

Eddie House had one of those unforgettable nights for Arizona State a dozen years ago, paying back California for not recruiting him by torching them for 61 points. That his memorable game didn't even match the second half of Jack Taylor's record-setting performance nearly left the loquacious House speechless. ''Eighty points in 20 minutes? Come on guy, that'...

POTD 11/21/12: Chris Bosh on Ersan Ilyasova

Twelve games into his first season as a starting center, Chris Bosh appears to be adjusting quite nicely.  He’s putting up Heat career highs of 20 points and 1.3 blocks, and he’s doing so despite a slight decrease in shots and minutes.  It’s early, but the spike in swats could be an indication that Bosh is making a conscious effort to become a more forceful interior player...

The defending NBA champions, however, haven't had much of a home-court advantage against the Milwaukee Bucks of late. In a matchup of first-place teams, the Heat try to extend their best home start in franchise history Wednesday night against the...

The result was a 6-0 start in the extra session and a 113-106 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks. The Heat (9-3) improved to...
