The Miami Heat introduced free-agent signing Shane Battier Friday, adding a proven defensive stopper and glue guy to their star studded lineup. Battier, who made $7.4 million last year in Houston and Memphis, takes a major pay cut to play with Miami, signing a three-year $9.4 million – making just over $3 million a season. Battier told reporters Miami’s big three of LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh reached out to him this offseason. "Knowing that he took a pay cut to be here, that doesn't go unnoticed in Miami," Wade told reporters. "It might go unnoticed elsewhere. But here in Miami, we appreciate that." Battier, the sixth overall pick in the 2001 NBA Draft, has averaged 9.6 points and 4.7 rebounds for his career.
