Hofstra pulls off rare eight-point play

You could say it was an and-six. Things haven't been looking up for Hofstra ever since Speedy Claxton graduated and they went from having an incredible mantra, the Flying Dutchmen, to a boring, lame one — the Pride.But here's a little interesting tidbit the team provided us with. In its game last night against UNC-Wilmington, Hofstra pulled off a rare feat: eight points scored on one possession. It took the Seahawks to score eight points in the first eight minutes. Hofstra guard Charles Jenkins scored as many on one first-half possession, that included an intentional foul on UNCW forward Jeremy Basnight and a technical foul on UNCW coach Benny Moss. That flurry of points made it 34-9 Pride with 9:15 in the half. I'd say that's a knockout blow. Final score? Hofstra 93, UNC-Wilmington 54. You wonder if the officiating crew got together and started writing down the arithmetic in pen on their hands to make sure the right amount of free throws were allotted. The P...
