NEW ORLEANS (AP) -- Jrue Holiday had 14 points and 12 assists, and the Philadelphia 76ers held New Orleans to its lowest point total ever in a 77-62 victory over the Hornets on Wednesday night.
Evan Turner also scored 14, and Thaddeus Young and Lavoy Allen each added 12 points for the Sixers, who dominated the second half defensively. The Hornets committed 14 of their 24 turnovers after halftime and scored only 25 points during the final two quarters. Young also grabbed 10 rebounds.
Al-Farouq Aminu was the only Hornets player to score in double figures with 10 points to go with 16 rebounds.
The Hornets, who lost for the first time in three games, played without first-round draft choices Anthony Davis and Austin Rivers. Davis was not cleared to return from a recent concussion and Rivers had a sprained finger.
BEST OF MAXIM
Philadelphia 76ers power forward Lavoy Allen wasn’t shy about his political leanings during the run-up to Election Night on Tuesday. The second-year player — and teammate of uber-Republican Spencer Hawes — confirmed his support for Mitt Romney via Twitter on Monday.
Sadly for Mr. Allen, his bench-player-level influence didn’t sway enough voters. But rather than cry about...
Lavoy Allen of the Philadelphia 76ers is a Mitt Romney supporter. Actress Stacey Dash is also a Mitt Romney supporter. So the two have at least that much in common.
So as the results began to trickle in Tuesday night and it became clear that Romney had lost his bid to become President, Allen was faced with two Twitter based options: Either he used his time lamenting the loss or he...
New Orleans Hornets coach Monty Williams was fined $25,000 by the NBA on Tuesday for public comments criticizing the league's concussion policy.
Williams made the comments Saturday night in Chicago before the Hornets faced the Bulls with first overall draft pick Anthony Davis sidelined by a mild concussion.
Williams blasted the NBA's protocols for determining when a player...
New Orleans Hornets rookies Anthony Davis and Austin Rivers both have been ruled out for Wednesday night's game against the Philadelphia 76ers.
Davis has been sidelined by a minor concussion since the middle of New Orleans' second game of the season last Friday night. Rivers has a sprained left index finger and will be out for the first time.
Davis, the first overall choice...
There has been no change to Eric Gordon's status. He is still out for four to six weeks. He will still need to undergo treatment and rehab. However, it looks like some of that treatment will occur in Los Angeles. The New Orleans Hornets' guard will head to Los Angeles for treatment during a tense time in New Orleans for him says Matt Moore of CBS Sports. The Hornets...

76ers shooting guard Jason Richardson recently suffered a sprained ankle after stepping on a cameraman, which is a blow to a team that is already without star center Andrew Bynum. For some, this may seem like a fairly ordinary injury, and an event that is part of the game. After all, as fans, we all want the best media coverage...
After a week that saw him take an elbow to the head from his teammate, be diagnosed with a mild concussion, miss the road trip to his hometown Chicago, and saw his head coach go off on a rant about the over-cautious handling of head injuries in the NBA, Anthony Davis is surely ready to be back on the court. He'll be able to return as early as today.Davis, says John Reid of...
Philadelphia 76ers forward Lavoy Allen and actress Stacey Dash have one thing in common: They both support Mitt Romney. After Romney lost the presidential election to President Barack Obama on Tuesday, Allen offered to comfort the dashing Dash:
@realstaceydash don’t worry we will get through this together, if you need a shoulder to cry on I’m only a phone call away
New Orleans Hornets coach Monty Williams' fervent desire to get rookie forward Anthony Davis back on the court quickly proved costly. The NBA fined Williams $25,000 on Monday for comments made Saturday that denigrated the league's concussion policy, multiple media outlets reported. Davis was hurt Friday in the Hornets' home win over the Utah Jazz, and he didn'...
While some of the recent focus has been on coach Monty Williams' comments involving Anthony Davis' concussion, the New Orleans Hornets are off to a solid start even with the No. 1 overall draft pick having to sit out the latest game.
After recording back-to-back wins over playoff teams from last season, the Hornets will seek to make it three in a row during a visit from...
