Eric Gordon has been hampered by a sore right knee.  The New Orleans Hornets have been taking a cautious approach with him because of his injury history, but now it seems Gordon may miss the remainder of the preseason after not playing a game to date.  Jason Smith, the Hornets' power forward, could also miss the rest of the preseason thanks to a shoulder injury.According to John Reid of the New Orleans Times-Picaynne, Gordon may miss the team's final three preseason games because of a lack of conditioning.  Since Gordon has not been able to play the last three games, coach Monty Ellis feels Gordon has not had the proper conditioning.  The team does not want to risk throwing him out there and seeing him re-injure the knee. Gordon was traded to the Hornets last season in the deal that sent Chris Paul to the Clippers.  This will be Gordon's second season with New Orleans, but really it will be his first if he can play.  Last year, Gordon was limited to just nine games.  The Hornets will need him on the court if they are to continue to compete.  He has averaged 18.2 points per game in his career.Reid also says Jason Smith could miss the rest of the preseason after he injured his shoulder last week.  The injury came during practice and Smith has not played since. "I don’t see them playing in the next couple of games, maybe not anymore in the preseason,'' Williams said.  "(It) is not ideal, but it is the situation that we have. Jason is still feeling pain. Eric got to get his condition up; that’s what he’s working on now. But he’s doing more and more everyday. He’s doing a lot more drill work with the team and he’s in all the huddles. He’s more engaged each day.’’Smith is entering his third season with New Orleans.  He has played for both the Hornets and the Philadelphia 76ers.  In his career, Smith has averaged five points per game and 3.2 rebounds per game. The Hornets will open the regular season on October 31st.  They will host the San Antonio Spurs in New Orleans.
