CLEVELAND -- It was a game the Cavaliers needed, a home game in which they had a chance to prove their mettle. Then the Dallas Mavericks came out and put on a magical shooting performance. The result: Mavs 103, Cavs 95, and the fifth-straight loss for the Cavs. They now head to Philadelphia for a Sunday night affair sporting a 2-7 record. Meanwhile, the Mavericks (6-5) shot 51 percent from the floor, including 10-for-23 on three-pointers. The loss ruined another fine scoring performance from Cavs point guard Kyrie Irving, who scored 26 points. Irving left the game briefly in the third quarter with a bruised index finger. Irving did not tally an assist or rebound. Dion Waiters and Daniel Gibson added 16 points apiece for the Cavs, and Alonzo Gee tallied 15. Tristan Thompson added a game-high 12 rebounds. Waiters, however, shot just 4-for-16, and is 7-for-32 in his previous two games combined. Former Ohio Mr. Basketball and current Mavs guard O.J. Mayo scored 19 points. Check back with FOX Sports Ohio later for a complete recap of Saturdays game.
