The Houston Rockets pasted the Washington Wizards 101-76 last night for their largest margin of victory for the 2011-12 season, but it’s difficult to glean insights from a contest versus such an inept opponent. Washington has young talent galore in top scorers John Wall and Nick Young, but maturity issues festering in all directions and a deadly turnover plague condemned Flip Saunders’ former team last night. Tonight the Houston Rockets face the New York Knicks, and even without the injured Carmelo Anthony, Spike Lee’s favorite squad still has talent with post players Amare Stoudemire and Tyson Chandler. Despite the blowout win, Houston still had 17 turnovers versus Washington, shot only 42 percent the field, and 33 percent from three. They didn’t pull away until the third quarter, and they will have to play better tonight to beat the Knicks.
