Derrick Rose has already had a tremendous start to his NBA career as in his first season in the league he won the NBA Rookie of the Year Award and in his third season he was honored with the Most Valuable Player Award. What’s scary for opposing teams is that Rose has plenty of room to expand his game. He has already worked on improving his free throw shooting in his rookie year he shot a solid percentage of 78.8, it dropped to 76.6 percent in his second year, yet last season he shot an impressive 85.8 percent and so far this season he’s at 84.1 percent. The reason the free throw percentage is important to Rose is because he is one the best players in the NBA at getting to the rim, which gives him a better chance at three point play opportunities. Also, with the improvement he can look for contact more from defensive players and earn two free throws. For Rose there are two aspects of his game that keeps him from being the best point guard in the NBA at this time.  The fir...

Video: Westbrook's jam on the Kings

Russ straight Mortal Kombat’s this dunk over most of the Sacramento Kings defense. I’m still sticking with Russ being a top 3 guard in the NBA. Between him, Harden and KD I can easily see three championships in the next 7 years. Russell Westbrook throws down monster one-handed dunk against Sacramento (Video)

Oklahoma City Thunder guard Russell Westbrook had a monster one-handed dunk near the end of the second quarter of last night's NBA game in Sacramento against the Kings. Westbrook dribbled right down the key and finished with the powerful slam dunk. It was so powerful and out of nowhere that TNT commentators shouted in excitement and had to catch their breath to regain...

Russell Westbrook throws down nasty one-handed dunk vs. Kings (Video)

As most NBA fans know, Thunder guard Russell Westbrook is one of the most athletic guards in the league and he showed off his athleticism last night against the Sacramento Kings. Watch as he throws down this nasty one-handed slam dunk:

Dunk of the night: Russell Westbrook over Sacramento Kings

The Thunder took on the Sacramento Kings Thursday night in Sac. The Kings are a young athletic team still trying to find identity. The firing of former head coach Paul Westphal seemed to do a lot of team moral especially for the teams talented but at times immature star, DeMarcus “Boogie” Cousins. Hyped for the [...]

Russell Westbrook's monster dunk drives announcers crazy

<embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/YaGaMb5LIag<embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/ Check out this video from last night's Thunder-Kings game. Russell Westbrook, recently extended after being maligned during last year's playoffs for taking too many shots, gets a nice lane up the middle and absolutely destroys a dunk. Look closely at the video, and you&...

Durant, Westbrook combine for 61 points

Kevin Durant had 33 points, including a dunk with 2.9 seconds left in overtime, and the Oklahoma City Thunder defeated the Portland Trail Blazers 111-107 on Monday night. Russell Westbrook added 28 points and 11 rebounds for the Thunder, who upped their NBA-best record to 19-5. LaMarcus Aldridge had 39 points for Portland, who led 103-101 with 6 seconds left in regulation before...

Slam of the night: Russell Westbrook on the Kings

At times OKC Thunder guard Russell Westbrook can get buckets with the best of them and is clearly one of the most athletic point guards in the NBA (Westbrook’s vertical jump was measured at 36.5″ at the 2008 NBA combine). That superior athleticism was on display Thursday night against the Kings: Westbrook is listed at [...]

David Stern willing to have Seattle back in the NBA; Kings being targeted?

NBA Commissioner David Stern said Tuesday that he is open to the league returning to Seattle and acknowledged a meeting he had a year ago with Christopher Hansen, the man who’s trying to get it done. The Salt Lake Tribune on Tuesday published an exclusive with David Stern, where he detailed the effort to bring back pro hoops to the land of coffee beans, flannel shirts and inclement...

The Oklahoma City Thunder’s porous defense will cause them to falter in the playoffs

Two nights ago the late heroism of the terrific duo of Oklahoma City Thunder SF Kevin Durant and PG Russell Westbrook shot their way to victory in a shootout against the Golden State Warriors at the Oracle Arena. Golden State Warriors’ SG Monta Ellis scored a monstrous 48 including almost 40 in the first half. The Golden State Warriors in many ways are a similar team to the...

Late Mistakes Undo Thunder

After back-to-back narrow escapes to start the week, the Oklahoma City Thunder would have welcomed a reprieve against the Sacramento Kings. Instead, the Kings  bullied their guests into their sixth loss. Wearing Raider-esque black-and-silver uniforms, the Kings played the villain role to the hilt, hacking the more athletic OKCers on every foray to the hoop and punishing the Thunder...
