We’re just a few hours away from the NBA Finals match up we’ve been waiting for since the shortened season began. LeBron James and the Miami Heat will visit Kevin Durant and the Oklahoma City Thunder. The media will make this series about LeBron’s ability to finally win himself a ring, and rightfully so, but this is also about Durant ability to show he can win.

Durant has been called the best player in the league by some members of ESPN (Skip Bayless), and fans around the globe. In reality Durant has won just as many NBA Championships as LeBron. Sure Durant has had less years to accomplish a championship, but LeBron has been a better player for a longer period of time. He still is, and proves it game in and game out. When Durant finished off the Spurs with a 34 points, 14 rebounds, and 5 assists, LeBron put up 45 points, 15 rebounds, and 5 assists the next night to send the Eastern Conference Finals to game seven. He one upped Durant, so lets recognize.

In a time where the regular season means nothing, and the short sample size of the playoffs means everything LeBron James is getting the short end of the stick in comparison to Durant. The reigning three time scoring champion has averaged 27.8 points per game through three rounds in the playoffs. While the MVP has averaged 30.8 points per game. I’m not saying James doesn’t get his credit, because at times he certainly does. But other times he gets shadowed by Durant even when he’s playing at a higher level than him.

LeBron was once in Durant’s shoes. A young once in a generation talent looking to win a title at a ridiculously young age. But that never happened. Experience triumphed, and several years later LeBron is still without a ring. If Durant wins perhaps he’ll be looked at like Kobe has been over his career. A winner.

Though, if he loses he may have a fate similar to his opponent in this series LeBron James.

One of the two outcomes are inevitable. Hopefully this LeBron vs. Durant debate turns into something similar to Magic vs. Bird of the 80′s when the Lakers and Celtics were playing each other on a yearly basis. That way a new era in basketball is cemented, and both players can go down as two of the greatest to ever played the game.

Footage of a 17 year old Baby Faced Durant right before he went to Texas

At 23 years old Oklahoma Thunder’s Kevin Durant still has a baby face so in this video of him when he was 17 he looks like an infant! Anyway, someone on the innerwebs dug up this video of Kevin at Seat Pleasant Recreational Center in MD. In the video, you can already see Kevin showing signs of that accessible and cautiously candid personality we in the media and blogophere are...

Boston Fan Pours Beer On Lebron James After Celtics Loss To Heat

A.B. As much as I hate Lebron James and the Miami heat, this is bush league. Being some 45 year old mid-life-crisis-big-bellied Bostonian who dropped $200+ on tickets and $8+ on crappy beer doesn’t give you the right to throw a beer at a professional athlete. Be a man and jump on the court and take a swing at the big fella. I would respect that much more. But waiting for Lebron...

Kevin Durant Understands Individual Matchup Between Him, LeBron James Will Dominant Finals Headlines

Kevin Durant knows that whatever happens in the NBA Finals, he and LeBron James will be viewed as being at the center of it, for better or for worse. He recognizes that, he understands that, but he doesn't have to like that. Durant and James have more in common than chasing a championship starting Tuesday in Oklahoma City. Both have become hermits during the playoffs, with James...

Windhorst: 'Behavior Modification' Has Helped LeBron

LeBron James returns to the NBA Finals this week, one year after the Heat lost to the Mavericks in disappointing fashion.

NBA Finals Preview – Thunder vs. Heat

It’s the finals every body wanted. LeBron James versus anti-LeBron James, aka Kevin Durant. The makeup of both the Oklahoma City Thunder and Miami Heat could not be any more different. Miami built their big-3 through free agency in the summer of 2010. James and Chris Bosh upped with Dwyane Wade, which of course prompted this.  Meanwhile, just days after...

NBA finals style wars: Kevin Durant & Russell Westbrook vs. LeBron James & Dwyane Wade

Game 1 off the NBA finals went to the Thunder. But what about the OTHER battle, the fashion one? Russell Westbrook wore a shirt from the 2012 Prada spring collection and of course, personality frames. KD opted for a slim cut suit in black. King James opted for a color mash featuring a berry shirt, [...]

Starting 5: OKC comes back vs. Miami's fizzle

Every morning, we'll give you five things from the night before in the NBA to start your day. 1:  OKC's big comeback You wouldn't see a re-incarnted Sun Tzu penning basketball strategies that include being down 13 at any point in an NBA Finals game, but the Thunder never quite seemed uncomfortable with their deficits in Game 1.  Like a battering ram taking a few...

Mike Tyson performs the beautifully touching “LeBron James” on Jimmy Kimmel (VIDEO)

Touching, poignant, and haunting. And that’s just the afro wig and basketball outfit Iron Mike is sporting.Mike Tyson continues to reinvent himself as a master of comedy, and this latest appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live only adds to his repertoire of hilarity.  Tyson sings the melodic “Lebron James” as only he can.  The only thing funnier than Tyson’s so-called singing is...

San Antonio’s Elimination Spreads Sorrow Through Portland

It’s with a heavy heart that Portland Trail Blazer fans watch the Oklahoma City Thunder advance to the NBA Finals. Sure part of it is because the what-ifs surrounding Kevin Durant and Greg Oden. Lax Heat attack needs correcting for Game 2

Miami came ready to play Tuesday night in Game One of the NBA Finals. The Heat jumped out to a 13-point lead and had everything going. They were forcing turnovers, they were getting out on the break and they were moving the ball. Mario Chalmers and Shane Battier were getting open shots and taking advantage of an Oklahoma City defense still getting its bearings. LeBron James...

I Don’t Get The NBA’s Whole “Kiss Your Mom On The Lips” Deal

I’m starting to think it’s me.  Maybe I’m emotionally detached from my mother?  Maybe I’m the crazy one but its bizarre to watch the new generation of NBA stars to kiss their mothers ON THE LIPS during games. I’ve been ripping into Miami Heat’s Lebron James for repeatedly kissing his mom on the lips in Game 1 against the Boston Celtics and in Game 5 too but at least...

Giant statues of Miami Heat big three created at go kart race track (photos)

With the Miami HEAT headed to the 2012 NBA Finals versus the Oklahoma City Thunder, a local South Florida company thought it was only right to commemorate the occasion with 16, 18 and 20 foot statues of the big three.
