The Orlando Magic inquired about a potential move that would send Dwight Howard to the New York Knicks for Amar’e Stoudemire and Tyson Chandler, but would this deal even work out financially for both teams? The Knicks alone have $31 million wrapped up in those two players. They would have to also take back a sizable contract from Orlando. The 2011 figures in this rumored trade look like this: Amar’e Stoudemire $18,217,705 million Tyson Chandler $13,107,838 million Total: $31,325,543 million Dwight Howard: $17,885,400 The new NBA collective bargaining agreement contains new rules pertaining to trades. Taxpaying teams can take back 125% of their outgoing salary plus $100,000. Non-taxpaying teams (based on team salary after the trade) have two options as to how much salary they can take back. Non-taxpaying teams can acquire up to the lesser of 150% plus $100,000 OR 100% plus $5 million. Teams can trade up to $3 million in a trade but the Knicks used up that $3 million in the Tyso...

  • That's a no go. If Charles Dolan's offspring hears about it.....
I don't want to think about it. The better deal for teams would be a package with Howard headed north in return for Chandler and Anthony. I would like to keep Chandler but I feel with the difference in age and Howard not having "hit" his potential yet is a good deal. The Knicks would be better just picking up the salary differrential (not possible under CBA)Do to Charles Dolan's son "deal making" ability he gave away to much talent and got little in return. Felton and Chandler, Chandler and Chandler (could be a white collar law firm)better yet Chandler (Tyson), Felton and Galinari. He gave all those options away for a "player" who told the world during the season he wanted to play in New York (who doesn"t, can you hear me Deron) before the " trading deadline, he panics and gives away three years of hard work and part of the future; approaching a "lockout" with no player movement, lockout ends he signs Anthony, Knicks would still have core group of young talent (we could have given them Mosgov)"cap room from not resigning Curry, and a chance to sign "Deron Williams" Its a shame people become expendable when the "project collapses" especially when the person they should fire is making the decissions.

Dwight Howard Now Says He is Open to Play for the Boston Celtics

I know the Magic are playing this close to the vest. While others do not have much faith in their front office, I do believe they know they have no shot of keeping Dwight Howard and will figure out a way to move him before then end up with nothing for him. Dwight has dropped hint after hint that unless Magic win NBA Finals, he is taking his Superman cape (sorry Shaq) and flying out...

Quote of the Day: Dwight Howard zings Big Baby

Asked what Glen Davis brings to the Magic… “Food. Drinks. By the time he brings the food, there’s no food left. He usually eats it before he brings it to the table.” —Dwight Howard, talking about the former Celtic and his penchant for enjoying a good meal. A large good meal. From WEEI, via The…
