First, as you have likely heard by now, Chris Collins has accepted the head coaching job at Northwestern.
It’s a tough job, there’s no question: Northwestern has never made the NCAA tournament. We can’t think of another school from a major conference that can say that.
It’s a position that fairly screams for a smart, highly energetic guy who can identify talented, driven players who can succeed on and off the court. Collins certainly fits the profile.
His dad, Doug, has said that his dream job would be to become Chris’s assistant coach. It might not happen right away but it’s kind of a cool thing to think about.
As he prepares to leave Duke – he’ll be here through the tournament – Nate James is ready to move back to an assistant’s position for the Blue Devils.

The Chris Collins to Northwestern train picked up steam yesterday, as it was widely reported that the school met with its leading candidate on Monday night. When Bill Carmody was first fired, I was told that basically the only thing that would stand between Collins and the head coaching spot at NW would be if something fell apart in contract negotiations. The Board of Trustees has...

During the tilt between the Milwaukee Bucks and Philadelphia 76ers at the Wells Fargo Center on Wednesday evening, one lucky fan seated courtside received an up-close and personal visit from Sixers guard Royal Ivey.
Due to the hustle by Ivey (whose name evokes the notion that it also could be the nickname bestowed on a promiscuous gal who seduces employees of Renaissance Festivals...

Northwestern hired longtime Duke assistant Chris Collins on Tuesday night to replace the fired Bill Carmody, hoping he can finally lead the Wildcats to the NCAA tournament and into the upper echelon of the Big Ten.
In many ways, Collins seems like a logical fit given his ties to the area, Northwestern' s academic similarities to Duke and his basketball pedigree. He is from suburban...

The Philadelphia 76ers realize it's probably too late to make any sort of realistic playoff push, but a quick glance at their schedule shows they'll have some great opportunities for wins over the next week.
That far-from-intimidating stretch begins with Friday night's visit to Cleveland, where the Cavaliers are still trying to figure out how they blew a late 10-point...
