…and sweep the floors.  Although not officially a member of the green team just yet, 34-year-old sixth-man extraordinaire Jason Eugene Terry has his sights set on Boston, and he’s had them set there since Doc Rivers contacted him two weeks ago.  It seems that Terry, an unrestricted free agent, never even considered any alternate situations after receiving the phone call he’d hoped for.  He’s absolutely dying to be a Celtic, and he recently expressed that to Boston.com…

“I’m still smiling,” said Terry, who said he is a Patriots fan because childhood friends Corey Dillon and Lawyer Milloy played for New England. “I was smiling when I answered the phone and heard it was [Rivers]. And then Danny [Ainge] called me a couple of days later and I was just grinning ear to ear, just because of the heritage, the history, and the tradition of the Boston Celtics, just being in that arena in front of these fans, it’s just a great opportunity.

“A lot of time in professional sports, you really don’t get to choose what team you’d like to play for, but me being a big fan of the Celtics from Larry [Bird] back in the day, it’s just going to be an honor to wear that uniform.”

An honor to wear it, or to wash it.  According to Terry, he’ll do whichever the team needs him to do.  This via WEEI.com…

“If they need me to wash the uniforms or sweep the floors, whatever role Doc wants me to play I’m here to do it at 100 percent and give my all. That’s what I’ve done my whole career and pretty much whatever it takes to win. Whatever puts us in the best position to win these games and win a championship is what I’ll be doing.”

Gotta love that attitude!  While Terry is obviously being a tad rhetorical, I think it’s clear that he’ll fit right in with Boston’s veteran, team-oriented group.

What with all of this enthusiasm, you may be wondering why the Terry signing hasn’t been made official yet.  Don’t worry, Cs fans, Danny Ainge is simply trying to orchestrate some sort of sign-and-trade deal with the Mavs so that he can preserve the mid-level exception.  If he’s unable to cut a deal with Dallas he’ll use the exception to sign Terry.
