We all know the background story of Kris Humphries. He was married to Kim Kardashian for a very brief period of time — scripted proposal and all. Anytime you associate yourself with a Kardashian, the hatred is bound to pour in. The Kris Humphries Popularity Restoration Project recently received a fantastic endorsement, however. When you have Jeremy Lin in your corner, you have a shot.

“He’s a really nice guy,” Humphries said on the Scott Van Pelt Show when discussing his recent encounter with America’s favorite baller. “He just said, ‘Hey, I don’t know why they boo you, but I think it’s crap, and you’re playing really well.’ That was nice of him to say. He’s a really nice guy. … It’s nice to see great things happen for nice people.

“I think that sometimes the typical sports fan that comes to a game may not understand you, or kind of looks at you like, why are you doing this or that? At the end of the day, it’s about coming to the gym, and what you do on the court. And I think true basketball people respect guys that no matter what’s going on in their life, they approach the game the same way, focus and play hard.”

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: Humphries knew exactly what he was getting himself into. When you become involved with Kim K., you have expect people to heckle you with hilarious giant cut-outs. Having J. Lin on his side at least gives Humphries a puncher’s chance of winning back some of the fans.

POTD 2/20/12: Landry Fields on Kris Humphries

I honestly thought this dunk was exactly what the Knicks needed to spark a run.  It was a decisive basket that cut the lead to seven (did he make the freethrow?  I don’t even remember) and got the crowd back into it.  Turns out what the Knicks really needed to start that little run that never happened was a straight jacket for Deron Williams, who went absolutely crazy on...
