Although Jimmer Fredette‘s career has taken longer than expected to get off the ground in the NBA, one place he will always be a superstar is Provo, Utah. Provo was where Fredette starred for four years at Brigham Young, winning the Wooden Award, Naismith Award and The Associated Press Player of the Year Award in 2011. Entering his third year with the Sacramento Kings, though, Fredette is at a pivotal juncture in his professional development. They drafted Kansas guard Ben McLemore and acquired point guard Greivis Vasquez to compete with Fredette for playing time in Sacramento’s crowded backcourt. Fredette took a break from this crucial offseason to make a trip to his second home nestled in the Wasatch Mountains to make an appearance at an Orem Owlz game on Friday. The Owlz, the rookie league affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels, play just minutes from BYU’s campus. Fredette donned an Owlz cap and jersey, posed for photos with a few Owlz players and even met Holly, one of the team’s creepy-looking mascots. Check out photos of Fredette’s visit and judge Holly’s creep factor for yourself below.   Photos via Facebook/Orem Owlz Filed under: Headlines, Minor League Baseball, NBA, NESN Staff, Offbeat
