Some players out there may not appreciate the Lakers’ incredible history and remarkable achievements over the years, but Jodie Meeks isn’t one of them.
During an interview with Dave McMenamin of ESPN Los Angeles, Meeks called the Lakers a “high-class organziation”, and hopes to bring another championship to the city of L.A:
Meeks stays positive when thinking about next season (“I think we’ll still have a good team and I think we’ll still make the playoffs,” Meeks said) and his long-term future with the franchise (“You’re part of a high-class organization that has won a lot of championships and hopefully I can be on the next one that wins.”)
Meeks could still turn out to be a steal for the Lakers; he signed a two-year deal for the league minimum last summer in the hopes of winning a championship. Of course, that didn’t work out too well, and Meeks’ up-and-down shooting was disappointing, though the guard is said to be working hard this summer and is hoping to have a bounce-back year next season.
Meeks recognizes what it means to be a Laker and those are the kind of players who deserve to wear the purple and gold. Hopefully, his respect for the franchise will translate into him having a great year out there on the basketball court next season.
