Posted in TextI saw this tidbit on ESPN.com: According to Sportando, Krasnye Krylya Samara, a Russian team, has announced the signing of Joe Alexander. Alexander was cut by the Hornets in November of last season and spent the year in the D-League with the Texas Legends. As a fringe player in the NBA, Alexander may have gotten a training camp invite this fall from a team. But with the lockout, it seems signing overseas for a guaranteed paycheck instead of potentially sitting out several months — or potentially a whole season if the lockout lasts that long — was not in the cards for him this coming season. Alexander may have the opportunity to make the NBA again via a training camp invite in 2012-13 — depending on the length of his contract in Russia — or perhaps via a call-up from the D-League if he ends up there again after his stint in Russia.
