Philly Sports Nut:
This afternoon, in the second game of the season, the Philadelphia 76ers took on the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden. This was an early season matchup of two teams that I expect to make the playoffs but the Knicks definitely were quicker and stronger then the Sixers today.
The Sixers only lead came at the beginning of the game leading 2-0. From there, the Knicks took over and never looked back. Carmelo Anthony continued his hot shooting from Friday night and led the Knicks with 27 points and five rebounds. Also helping Carmelo in the scoring department was J.R. Smith who came off the bench and scored 20 points while shooting 4 of 5 from three point range. The Knicks offense was clicking as they shot 50 percent from the field and 40 percent from three point range.
For the Sixers, Jrue Holiday had the hot hand this afternoon. After signing his contract extension, Holiday came out and showed his worth. In 40 minutes of game action, Holiday had 27 points and seven assists. From the three point line, Holiday was 5 of 6. Evan Turner who had a quiet game for the most part had a double-double consisting of 11 points and 11 rebounds.
SG Jason Richardson left the game within the first two minutes, with an apparent sprained left ankle. There has been no more information regarding this injury as of yet.
The Sixers ended up losing this game 100-84 and now their record stands at 1-1 on the season. The Sixers will play the Knicks again in the second game of this home and home series tomorrow night at 7:00 pm at the Wells Fargo Center.

There are many Knicks fans proclaiming, "The Knicks are back!," following the team's 2-0 start with wins over the Heat and 76ers.Perhaps a little bit more time is needed to assert such a statement, but one thing can be said for sure: the "offices" of KnicksJournal.com are back up and running following the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. As for the team, the...
Last night’s win over the Heat was certainly awesome for the Knicks, but there was something just as or maybe even more awesome than the win though. Yep, Rasheed Wallace made his return to the NBA in last night’s game. Before that, he hadn’t played in a game since the 2010 NBA Finals – that’s when the Celtics lost to the Lakers in Game 7.
Knicks fans were clearly eager...
With Amar’e Stoudemire out for a few more weeks, it gives Carmelo Anthony more time to be extremely effective at the four. During Sunday’s game against the Philadelphia 76ers, Anthony was just that, effective on both ends of the floor. He ended up with 27 points on 18 shots and 5 rebounds and he passed [...]The post NBA Star Of The Night: Carmelo Anthony appeared first on The NBA Mistress.

Carmelo Anthony heard the news about the New York City Marathon being canceled, then came out to warm up and saw plenty of empty seats at Madison Square Garden.
At that moment, it would've been easy to agree with Dwyane Wade and others, that this wasn't the time to be playing games.
By tip-off, Anthony and the Knicks knew otherwise.
Fans had filled the place, when even...
The New York Knicks put on a clinic tonight down in Philly with a 22 point win. I was there in person tonight and have to tell you it wasn’t even THAT close. Guard J.R. Smith easily had the most exciting play of the night. Pablo Prigioni stole the ball and took off down court. Unfortunately for him, Evan Turner and Jrue Holiday followed and provided great defense, causing Prigioni...

The New York Knicks have started 3-0 this year and rap producer/Knicks super fan Swizz Beatz got pretty excited after they collected their second win of the season last Sunday.Beatz and some of his friends were on a private jet and filmed their celebration as the Knicks were finishing off the Philadelphia 76ers:

New York starts the season off going 2-0 and it is the very first time they go 2-0 in 13 years and in the 21st century.

According to RealGM, Rasheed Wallace is leading the NBA in PER. The above graphic puts 'Sheed in some pretty nice company, as two of the 4 other featured players won NBA player of the week honors (Jennings and Harden). You'll get 'em next week 'Sheed!
