Jrue Holiday has logged some heavy minutes for a struggling 76ers team this season.credit: http://news.menshealth.com/ This season has been a major disappointment for the Philadelphia 76ers. After losing Andre Iguodala, Nikola Vucevic, and Jason Richardson for Andrew Bynum, there was hope in Philly that Bynum and Jrue Holiday could lead the team to new heights. However, Andrew Bynum’s knees had other plans. He will go the entire 2012-2013 season without playing a single minute, and is a free agent this summer. With a thin team, the team has looked to Jrue Holiday to carry a heavy load. With just a few games left, the wear and tear is evident. Via philly.com: “It’s been tiring, obviously. I won’t lie,” said Holiday, who has shot 12-for-55 (21.8 percent) over his past three games, including a 2-for-24 stinker at Charlotte. “It’s my first time really going through a season where you’re averaging more than 35 minutes. It’s about taking care of yourself. There’s a lot of things that I can’t do that other people probably can. I’m sleeping all day instead of waking up and going out and watching a movie or something. I’m in bed all day.” And the mental fatigue? “That’s something that you also have to learn,” Holiday said. “I was talking to the vets, like Damien [Wilkins] and Dorell [Wright] and all the guys that have been here and been on good and bad teams and really just going through that struggle. It’s just something new and something I’m trying to get through.” The 22-year-old point guard has logged 38.4 minutes per game in his 72 games this season, the highest minute average of his 4 year career. The 76ers are out of the playoff race, a scenario they certainly didn’t envision after trading for Andrew Bynum. It’s unclear what direction the franchise may choose to go, but it appears that Jrue Holiday is one of their building blocks. And if he wants to be a star, he better get used to playing big time minutes, both in the regular season and the postseason. -Mark Evans, Assistant Manager/Editor of Content Follow us on Twitter The post Jrue Holiday Wearing Down? appeared first on Pass The Pill - Kings of Hoops.

Andrew Bynum a “No-Show” at Sixers Team Picture Day

Considering he hasn’t been part of the team all year, this shouldn’t be very surprising. Bynum’s checks are signed by the Sixers, but beyond that, he has as much connection to the team as you or I. I am sure the Sixers wish, it wasn’t just a picture that Bynum was missing from, but their payroll as well.  Here are the details from Pro Basketball Talk. Though there were a...

Hawks-76ers Preview

Losses to the Philadelphia 76ers have been rather frequent for the Atlanta Hawks, but coach Larry Drew was seething after a dismal start doomed them in last week's meeting. He's expecting an improvement this time, particularly from Al Horford, Josh Smith and Jeff Teague. The trio attempts to lead the playoff-bound Hawks to just their second win in over two years versus...
