TEAMS: Oklahoma City Thunder, Miami Heat, Detroit Pistons, Chicago Bulls, Houston Rockets, Boston Celtics, New York Knicks, Philadelphia 76ers, Washington Wizards, Sacramento Kings, Los Angeles Clippers, Orlando Magic, Utah Jazz, Toronto Raptors, New Orleans Hornets
With NBA owners and player’s association about to reach a new collective bargaining agreement, we will finally see an end the NBA lockout and get to see our former UK Cats live out their NBA dreams. If the deal is agreed on by a majority on both sides, the NBA will fully reopen for business Friday with the beginning of training camps and free agency. Its worth noting a joint NBA-NBPA committee will discuss the NBA draft age limit, which for now remains 19 years and one year out of high school, so its unlikely Davis, Gilchrist, and Teague will have to stay at UK for two years, nor should they. If they wish to pursue their NBA dreams, they should be allowed to when they are ready. Here’s a recap of all former UK players currently in the NBA:
- Nazr Mohammed — Oklahoma City Thunder
- Jamaal Magloire — Free Agent
- Tayshaun Prince — Free Agent
- Keith Bogans — Chicago Bulls
- Chuck Hayes — Free Agent)
- Rajon Rondo — Boston Celtics
- Kelenna Azubuike — Free Agent
- Jodie Meeks — Philadelphia 76ers
- John Wall — Washington Wizards
- DeMarcus Cousins — Sacramento Kings
- Eric Bledsoe — Los Angeles Clippers
- Patrick Patterson — Houston Rockets
- Daniel Orton — Orlando Magic
- Enes Kanter — Utah Jazz
- Brandon Knight — Detroit Pistons
- Josh Harrellson — New York Knicks
- DeAndre Liggins — Orlando Magic
While 2 p.m. Friday is currently the earliest free agents can sign there have been several deals reportedly agreed to between teams and free agents, including former PF/C Chuck Hayes, who’ reportedly agreed to 4-year deal with Sacramento Kings to team up with the Boogie man.
Jamaal Magloire will reportedly sign with the Toronto Raptors.
PG Rajon Rondo has been the subject of many trade rumors, including a reported deal between the Celtics and Hornets to a trade Rondo for Chris Paul, but Paul’s refusal to sign an extension in Boston killed the trade.
