Oklahoma City Thunder star, Kevin Durant, was recently tapped by GQ magazine to act as a “Style Correspondent” throughout NBA All-Star Weekend. He offered style advice, critiqued players’ sartorial statements and selected the weekend’s most stylish ballers. Although men aren’t the only ones seeking Durant’s fashion expertise. The Thunder small forward schooled a very different audience on his style secrets, as he appeared in Teen Vogue‘s March 2013 issue. The magazine’s Fashion News Director, Jane Keltner de Valle, gave Durant an opportunity to talk women’s fashion and put his styling skills to the test. He helped her choose three different looks, with each ensemble based on a specific occasion: game, date and weekend. Similar to his own style preferences, Durant was very particular as to his likes and dislikes when it comes to female fashion. According to the magazine, he “prefers jeans and heels, “thinks the LBD [little black dress] is boring” and admitted “Jordans are the only tennis shoe I like to see on my lady.” For the full piece, read on here. The fashion shoot took place on-court, at the Chesapeake Energy Arena. Check out the three looks below: “Game” clothes call: On Jane – A New York Thing t-shirt; MIH jeans; Pierre Hardy backpack; Jimmy Choo heels. On Kevin – Nike KD V sneakers. “Date Night” clothes call: On Jane – Matthew Williamson dress; Sophia Webster clutch; Jimmy Choo heels. On Kevin – Phenom247 jacket, shirt, and jeans. “Weekend Chill” clothes call: On Jane – Nike KD hat and Nike sneakers. On Kevin – Nike eyewear and sneakers; Skullcandy headphones. In the behind-the-scenes video footage of Durant’s Teen Vogue shoot, the baller dishes on his personal style, his signature backpack, NBA players at Fashion Week, and his favorite designers. Watch the video below and check out some of the fashion facts he revealed. “I would describe my style as off-the-wall. I like stuff that doesn’t match. I just like to stand out.” “I own about 25 to 30 backpacks.” “I choose to wear glasses because first off, I need them. I think it enhances my style a little but and pushes me over-the-top. I wear different color glasses and different shapes. I just like the look of them.”
