Larry Brown Sports:
Kevin Durant was feeling it in Houston during Game 3 of the playoffs between the Rockets and Thunder. Durant went off for 27 points in the first half and played like he was trying to prove a point in the team’s first game since Russell Westbrook got hurt. He was feeling so pumped up he even yelled out, “This is my city!” after taking a charge early in the second quarter.
Should anyone remind him he was in Houston and not Oklahoma City? Durant is from Washington DC, not Houston, though he did attend the University of Texas. But after his monster first half, he probably felt like he owned the entire country.
KD also threw down this jaw-dropping dunk on Omer Asik in the first quarter:
You think he’s trying to prove to everyone that the Thunder will be fine without Westbrook? Goodness gracious. If he keeps this up, the Thunder may still be able to reach the NBA Finals even without Russ.

The notion during their tenure of playing together has always been that Russell Westbrook takes shots away from Kevin Durant. Westbrook is the most explosive point guard in the game, but has a tendency to take some ill-timed shots that many feel would be better served being taken by one of the best shooters in the game.
So when Russell Westbrook was announced out for the playoffs...
Because even when Kevin Durant misses, it goes in. Because Reggie Jackson can make a couple clutch free throws. Because Durant can score 41 if that's what it takes.
That's why the Oklahoma City Thunder don't need Russell Westbrook to beat the Houston Rockets.
Without their all-world point guard, who is out with a knee injury sustained in game two, the Thunder on Saturday...
