Jared Wickerham/Getty Images Kevin Garnett scored 12 points in the Boston Celtics’ 71-69 win over the Chicago Bulls. When the game was over, Garnett was asked multiple questions and there was one answer that left everyone scratching their heads. Garnett said this weekend’s All-Star Game in Houston, Texas was going to be his last. Here’s what he said, via the Boston Herald: “This is definitely my last All-Star Game,” he said. “Ya’ll don’t know what I know. I’m more than grateful, and I’m not going to act like I have more All-Star Games in me. I’ll enjoy this one with friends and family. That’s what I meant.” Garnett added he simply plans to enjoy himself this weekend. “I’ll have no feelings whatsoever,” he said when asked about Sunday. “I always enjoyed each All-Star Game. I’m not a guy who is going to show too much emotion at that time. The All-Star Game for me is more for friends and family. Well, I don’t see how that could be possible, since Garnett signed a three-year, $34 million in the summer to keep playing for the Boston Celtics. This doesn’t mean retirement, but this could also mean a change in the voting system might be installed by the league? That would be highly unlikely, but you never know. Another possible answer to the question would be that Garnett doesn’t think he’ll have a solid year next season to be an All-Star. However, that won’t mean anything if the fans vote for him.   Garnett’s first All-Star game was in 1997, and he has been a member of the team ever since. He won his only All-Star Game MVP in 2003 when he was playing for the West. He scored 37 points, including the first seven points of the second overtime, to lead the West to a 145-137 win. The 36-year-old was drafted by the Minnesota Timberwolves with the fifth overall pick in the 1995 NBA Draft. He went on to play 12 years with the club. Despite winning the MVP award in 2004, he never had much success in the playoffs with Minny. When he got traded to the Celtics, he didn’t waste the opportunity to prove he was a champion. He won the Defensive Player of the Year award, and the Celtics ended up with a 66-16 record in the regular season and won the team’s 17th championship by defeating the Los Angeles Lakers 4-2.
