KG and Pierce, best friends for longer than must of us thoughtKG passed Jerry West for 15th on the NBA’s all-time point list during the game last night in Boston, and followed it up by giving an all-timer of  a KG post game interview.  I wrote up a piece about a Rajon Rondo post game interview and the more I watch the two of them, the more a lot of their mannerisms and responses to the press seem to mesh together.  A testament to how much the Big Ticket can effect the atmosphere in the locker room and change the mentality of the team and another reminder of how lucky Boston is to have him around. There are many great quotations from this long piece, and the guys over at Celticshub did a great job at transcribing the main sections of the KG interview (so go check it out).  Here is my favorite anecdote from KG in regards to Paul Pierce, who had his own career milestone last night in passing Charles Barkley for 20th on the all-time scoring list.  KG and Pierce were friends back in Crenshaw? I would imagine it would be hard not to knock over vases with those two presumably lanky 13 or 14 year old bodies running around the house, even with Pierces phenomenal foot work (via Celticshub):“What you all don’t know is that Paul and I have history and it’s only right that we come in here and we make history together. 13, 14, tearing up his Mom’s living room, breaking vases, almost getting ass whooped, first time I ever experienced Crenshaw on a Sunday – for you all that don’t know what Crenshaw on a Sunday is, Crenshaw on a Sunday is a big deal – Crenshaw on a Sunday taking me out being 15, 16 years old. Then finally being able to follow our dreams, McDonalds, having some duration together, trying to go to the same school then obviously going different paths then finally meeting up here in Boston, winning a championship, doing the things we’ve been doing since we’ve been here. 20,000 points, surpassing people we watched when we grew up and everything, obviously idolizing – it’s special. It’s best to do it with a personal friend. Not just a teammate but a real friend. Someone that knows you, knows your family, knows where you come from and vice versa. Knows the things that motivate you and push you. I always tell people I’ve got the greatest seat in the house to watch one of the best players in NBA history put the ball in the basket every night. It’s special to be able to do it with him.”I wanted to add two more quotes from the post game conversation, where KG predictably discusses how he loves to play with a chip on his shoulder:“I am kind of motivated off someone telling me something I can’t do versus things I can and that has been my motivation since I have been playing basketball.”“My drive is uncanny. I’ve always been motivated by the naysayers and the bull[expletive].”Whenever KG decides to hang up his sneakers it will, in my eyes, be far far too soon.Follow Jesse on Twitter: @J_duderanch
