The Boston Celtics are Rajon Rondo’s team now, and according to his mentor, Rondo is ready to lead. As Kevin Garnett explained to the media, ”he taught Rondo how to lead by example.” “About leadership. I feel like one of the things I always tried to stress to him is, when you’re a leader, you lead by example. It’s not a lot about what you say, it’s a lot about what you do.” On whether Rondo can push the new Celtics back to the top: “Absolutely. I’m sure he’s going to push them to make the team better, and (president of basketball operations Danny Ainge) is going to do just that. The franchise has always been used to winning. They have a new coach and new system up there, so I’m thinking that’s going to be a plus. I wish them all the best, man. I have no ill will towards anything in Boston.”

Throwback Thursday: Rondo drops 44 on Miami

Check out the latest upload from our friend RD6. It features the Celtics & Heat in a G2 showdown from the 2012 NBA Playoffs. Rajon Rondo had a monster night of 44 points, (career high) 10 assists & 8 rebounds. The C’s point guard was on the floor for the entire 53 minute overtime battle. Thanks to a very questionable no-call with 1:33 left and a Boston turnover, Miami pulled...

What to Expect From Rajon Rondo in 2013-14

Tim MacLean (@TimMacLean_) Predicting what the 2013-14 campaign has in store for Rajon Rondo is a bit tricky. At this point in the offseason we still aren’t sure when he’ll be ready to suit up and, as recent as today, the Celtics still have “no timetable” for his return. But given the state of this team, Rondo should be in no rush to get back on the floor with his teammates...

Rajon Rondo might be leaving Nike

Former Celtic and now former Adidas spokesperson Kevin Garnett recently signed with the Chinese sportswear company ANTA, ending his career long deal with Adidas. While on promo duty overseas he gave some key nuggets on a number of topics, which is a real rarity with the extremely private KG. Is Rajon Rondo soon to also join ANTA with KG? According to Dime Magazine, Rondo is up for...

Report: Celtics Do Not Have a Time Table for Rondo's Return

According to Baxter Holmes of the Boston Globe, Boston Celtics Head Coach Brad Stevens said today that there is no timetable set for when Rajon Rondo might return to action.  As you know, Rondo tore/ruptured his ACL back in late January of this year during a regular season bout with the Atlanta Hawks. The mercurial point guard then went on to have surgery in early February and,...

How crucial is Rajon Rondo to the Celtics for the 2013-14 NBA season?

So much of the fortunes of the Celtics 2013-14 season seems reliant on Rondo’s recovery, whether it positions him as a valuable trade commodity or perhaps as an even more valuable first team player. With less than two months before the season starts, it can’t be that long before we start hearing some concrete news on Rondo’s future, and what that means for the Boston Celtics...

Rondo Predicament Exposes Boston’s Managed Decline

Credit: ESPN Rajon Rondo’s future in Boston remains far from certain as rumours of trade deals continue to dominate conversation among NBA fans, former players and experts alike. He knows as much as we do that he is now the face of the Celtics and this young team need someone of his All-Star calibre to push this team forward. However, it is apparent the team is going through a...

Green Kick Of The Season CF: Rondo’s Hyperposite’s v Pierce’s Air Legacy’s

Last week’s match up was between our two starting guards; Rajon Rondo and his Nike Foamposite Fighter Jet’s versus Avery Bradley and his Adidas AdiZero Crazy Light II’s. This final results were closer than I thought they were going to be. Personally, I thought Rondo and his Fighter Jet’s would run away with the win but this wasn’t the case. Having said that, Rondo and his...

Doc Rivers: I wish Boston got to know Kevin Garnett more

Former Celtics coach Doc Rivers wishes the city of Boston got to know one of their former stars, Kevin Garnett, better. “Fans never got to see Kevin’s personality,” the Los Angeles Clippers coach said, via WEEI.com.

In interview in China, KG talks Rondo, coming back to Boston and more

It's a good thing Kevin Garnett is promoting a new shoe in China. Garnett has never really been one to speak openly about his emotions about current or former teammates, unless it's in some battle-fueled rant about kicking ass or bar fights. He is even more reclusive in the offseason, often quietly walking off into the sunset without a peep until the next season starts....

Team Celtics Down Under’s thoughts on the season ahead

Every new season is full of challenges and unanswered questions. The 2013/14 season however, marks the real beginning of a new chapter in the history of the Boston Celtics. It defines the real end of the Big Three era, and the departure of a career Celtic in the form of Paul Pierce, who has so stolidly stood his ground all these years and held the team aloft. Team Celtics Down Under...

Doc Rivers admits Kendrick Perkins trade was a mistake

Doc Rivers is back in Boston, temporarily, for a charity event he has been promoting for the past few days. As part of his role as co-chair of Action for Boston Community Development’s Hoop Dreams event, Rivers has been been making the local media rounds and, little by little, opening up on his true feelings about his time and departure from Boston. Rivers hewed to the Celtics’...

KG the coach? Doc thinks Rondo, Pierce and Garnett will all be coaches after they retire

Is it just me or have we heard from Doc Rivers way more than Brad Stevens in the Boston media this summer? This despite the fact that Doc, you know, doesn't work here anymore — and Stevens does. This time Doc is in the news for a good reason, back in town to host a charity event. While here, he again dished on quite a few Celtics related topics. The one I found most interesting...

Leaders Emerging....

The start of training camp is just 18 days away now and players are filtering into Boston and we'll see more and more news coming out about players' activity as the season nears.    With the Captain and KG in Brooklyn this season, there is a need for new leaders to step up.   We are seeing evidence that there will be players stepping up this season to fill the leadership...

Your Morning Dump… Where Doc’s out to kill us all

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.  Rivers acknowledged that the 2011 Kendrick Perkins-Jeff Green trade was a mistake that ultimately hurt Garnett. “I think so,” reflected Rivers, “because we needed the toughness. The one thing we did by...
