Houston Rockets coach Kevin McHale shared a long hug with Boston Celtics star Kevin Garnett after Friday night's NBA matchup at the Toyota Center, where the Rockets defeated the Celtics 101-99.
It was the first time the teams played since McHale took a month-long absence to grieve the loss of his daughter Sasha, who died of complications from Lupus at the age of 23. As they hugged, Garnett offered his support, and McHale was was brought to tears in what was clearly an emotional moment.
The ties between McHale and Garnett go back to 1995 as McHale drafted Garnett for the Minnesota Timberwolves. McHale then later orchestrated the famous trade that sent Garnett to the Celtics in 2007.
