The New York Knicks announced that forward Jeremy Tyler is out eight to 10 weeks after undergoing surgery to repair a stress fracture in the fifth metatarsal of his right foot, according to Alex Raskin of The Star-Ledger.The Knicks announced the news yesterday:Knicks forward Jeremy Tyler had surgery today to repair a stress fracture of his right fifth metatarsal. (cont)— NY_KnicksPR (@NY_KnicksPR) September 6, 2013 The timeframe means that Tyler is unlikely to be available for the start of the regular season. He impressed New York during summer-league play, which ultimately resulted in a two-year partially-guaranteed contract that he signed in the beginning of August. During his play this summer, Tyler averaged 12.8 points and 6.4 rebounds per game while shooting 56.3 percent from the field.Tyler was selected by the Charlotte Bobcats No. 39 overall in 2011. He was then acquired by the Golden State Warriors who sent him to the D-League. While you never want to see a player injured, this is particularly awful time considering his recent deal with the Knicks.Follow @hoopsinjurynews
