Most people get fired when they miss unapproved days from work! He's lucky they did'nt ship him back to the USA without any pay! A third of his salary regardless of how much it totaled is appropiate! He got a break! Somewhere done the line athletes like him need to learn to be disciplined. "He has a history of missing practice!" More GWMs and coaches need to take a stand and get rid of his type! They wouldn't have a problem with me reporting to practice for over $3 million dollars a season to play a sport that I loved! Get real!!!! Way to go China!
According to NIUBBALL.com J.R. Smith was fined over $1 million for missed practices during his duration in China: According to a report published by NetEase, Smith had US $1.06 million deducted from his salary over the course of the season for missing practices. Most of the missed practices came during pre-season while his team, Zhejiang Chouzhou, was getting ready for the start of the regular season. The sum was deducted from his salary, a final number that represented about one-third of his total salary. Is this a real surprise?? No. The sharpshooting Smith has a history of missed practices when he was with the Denver Nuggets and Hornets' franchises, but a million dollar fine???? Seems pretty steep, especially granted that was 33% of his salary. Now, the fact he chose to sign with the New York Knicks, whom were offering him 3x more, than the L.A. Clipper, well it makes sense. It's about those benjamins.... Until next time, Mrs. NBA

To tired of the phony 'discipline" mantra..It means nothing of course but just some tired select rules for superior Black players...I would wage those that cannot compete with Black players have discipline ...lol,lol,lol

J.R. Smith isn't any better than any other athlete. If he wants to play in the NBA and make those millions then he needs to do his JOB,its his JOB to make practice. Do you get paid millions to do your job? Pro Sports is overtated, what makes people think these athletes and owners are better than everyone else. Most are not role models, and show very little for what they are given. J.R. needs to take his job more serious or take away from him. I'm sure there are thousands ready to take his place. Loser!

I wonder if that will effect his ability to play? It sure would effect mine ... 33% effort for the rest of his contract would be fair .
