New York coach Mike Woodson believes whole-heartedly that Amare Stoudemire can make a difference against the Pacers. He's big, strong, and, when healthy, a proficient scorer - three ingredients the Knicks can use Saturday night. The problem is Stoudemire hasn't played in an NBA game in more than two months and will now try to work his way back into game shape during the Eastern Conference semifinals. It's a risky move, one Woodson insists is worth the gamble given the potential payoff of breaking a 1-1 series and reclaiming home-court advantage in Game 3 of this best-of-seven series as it shifts to Indianapolis. ''If I didn't think Amare was important to our team, then I wouldn't even consider that,'' the Knicks coach said after Friday's practice. ''But Amare can still play, and I think he proved that in the short time he was back this last time.'' On paper, it looks like a no-brainer. Stoudemire gives the Knicks more scor...

Instead, Woodson is gambling he can bring back a potentially big scorer without messing up the team chemistry. After missing two months following surgery on his right knee, Stoudemire is expected to play 10 to 15 minutes,...

Woodson Might Look Down the Bench?

Mike Woodson mentioned that if J.R. Smith does not snap out of his funk he might look to the bench for a spark. I understand his position on this topic, but if you sit J.R. you might lose him for the rest of the playoffs. Even though he is driving me crazy now, he still gives the Knicks the best chance to win. Marc Berman NY Post “I’m not going to kick him to the curb,’’...
