Found September 05, 2013 on NY Sports 24/7:
The New York Knicks are considering signing the former Sacramento Kings center Hassan Whiteside, according to Alex Kennedy of HoopsWorld. At 24 years old, Whiteside has been playing mostly in the NBA D-League ever since the Kings released him last year. The Kings drafted Whiteside 33rd overall in the 2010 NBA Draft but released him after only 19 games. It’s hard to tell how much of an impact Whiteside would have playing back-up center for Tyson Chandler on the Knicks. In the 19 games Whiteside played in the NBA, he averaged only around 6 minutes. In the D-League, though, Whiteside averaged about 6 PPG and 5 RPG in around 12 MPG. But because of the dearth of effective big men in the NBA, the seven-foot presence of Whiteside alone could help the Knicks on both offense and defense if Coach Mike Woodson were to find a way to integrate him into the lineup. The Knicks roster lists Tyson Chandler, Earl Barron and Andrea Bargnani at the center position. Barron and Bargnani are also listed as forwards. The Knicks are not the only team that is rumored to be eyeing Whiteside. The Milwaukee Bucks and the Miami Heat have also expressed their interest in him. Right now New York, Milwaukee and Miami already have 15 player contracts on their books. However, for New York and Miami not all the contracts are guaranteed, which means a spot on the roster could become available for Whiteside to fill.

Did Amar’e Stoudemire Ruin the Knicks?

In 2010 the New York Knicks signed Amar’e Stoudemire to a five-year deal worth $100 million.
