Here are the other players involved in the Shawn Marion deal, per ESPN.com:
Several other players including the Raptors' Kris Humphries, and the Mavericks' Jerry Stackhouse, Devean George and Antoine Wright are part of the trade according to sources. The Grizzlies will be getting Stackhouse and cash, sources said. George and Wright will end up in Toronto, according to the same sources. Humphries is on his way to Dallas.
Wright had his moments last season, but his minutes would have evaporated with Marion bumping Josh Howard to shooting guard. Quinton Ross, the Kimball/SMU product the Mavs signed today, can fill Wright's role as a solid defensive shooting guard.
George at best would have been the ninth or 10th man on the roster, if he could have stayed healthy. So the Mavs aren't giving up any guys who would have been consistent contributors with Marion's addition.
Wright and George were both expiring contracts, but they've both got sub-$2 million salaries, so it's not like the Mavs parted with significant trade chips other than Stackhouse.
Humphries is a classic throw-in, not a potential replacement for Brandon Bass. He's a career 44-percent shooting power forward who is on the books for $2.9 million in 2009-10 with a $3.2 million player option for 2010-11.
