Lakers acquire Chris Paul from New Orleans according to report

Update: Yahoo Sports is reporting that the Lakers and the Hornets are close to a deal which would send Pau Gasol and Lamar Odom to New Orleans in exchange for Chris Paul. It also means the Lakers might be out of the running for the Dwight Howard sweepstakes since it was thought it would require at least Gasol to obtain Howard.  Update: According to Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated, the Houston Rockets could be a third-team involved in a Chris Paul to the Lakers trade. The Rockets would get Gasol in that scenario. ESPN reports, “The chances of a Chris Paul trade before NBA training camps finally open Friday appear to be dwindling after the pace of Paul trade talks slowed Wednesday, according to sources close to the situation.” Marc Stein and Chris Broussard report  the Lakers would “like to” offer Pau Gasol for Paul and then send Andrew Bynum to Orlando for Dwight Howard.
