Los Angeles Lakers forward Pau Gasol was presented the J. Walter Kennedy Citizenship Award before Game 3 at Staples Center on Friday evening. He has done an exception job of giving back to the community.
In a way, this has become almost first nature for the Spanish power forward. He considered going to medical school instead of playing basketball. Even today, he still has his sights on pursuing a medical career. For the past seven years, Pau Gasol has been the UNICEF ambassador. His duties included visiting different parts of the world in the off-season and working with children to provide them with programs and nutrition. According to the Los Angeles Times, he also participated recently in a karaoke fundraising event to raise money for UNICEF. The duties do not stop there. After fulfilling his time for Spain in the upcoming Olympics in London, he will continue doing work for UNICEF.
