Los Angeles Lakers star guard Kobe Bryant said he is "fine" and intends to play in the season opener against the Chicago Bulls on Sunday despite a torn ligament in his right wrist.

"I should be fine," Bryant told ESPNLosAngeles.com. "It's always been in my nature to try to figure out a way to play. The injuries that I've had, I've been fortunate enough to be able to play through them because I haven't had injuries where they could get worse the more I played on them."

He sat out Thursday's practice to get treatment on the wrist and said the condition is improving.

Bryant was injured when he crashed to the floor during Monday's preseason game against the Los Angeles Clippers. He did not play in Wednesday's preseason matchup with the Clippers.

An MRI exam revealed a torn lunotriquetral ligament.

Bryant scored 22 points in 30 minutes against the Clippers on Monday night.

The 33-year-old Bryant has built a legendary reputation for playing through injuries, missing only 16 games over the past six seasons.
