We've just learned through twitter and some forums that Ashlyn Horry, the daughter of former Lakers player, Robert Horry, has just passed away at the extremely young age of 17. We at Lakers Nation would like to offer our condolences and our prayers go out to Big Shot Rob and his family.
For those of you who don't know, the Horry family has been fighting alongside Ashlyn's side against a genetic disease, so rare, that it is named 1p36 Deletion Syndrome. This disease attacks the respiratory system and Ashlyn has gone through many surgeries and near-death experiences because of it.
The Horry Family has set up a foundation called the Ashlyn Horry Foundation to help organize initiatives to help provide resources to families going through the experience of taking care of their family members affected by rare diseases such as these.
