There is no reason to not like Lamar Odom of the Dallas Mavericks, no matter the team you root for. Sure he may be involved with the Kardashian’s but let’s not hold that against him. The former Los Angeles Lakers sixth man of the year is passionate, dedicated and a hard worker. His struggles this year could be more  mind over matter than deteriorating skills. After the reality set in that Odom was to be traded by the Los Angeles Lakers to the New Orleans Hornets he felt disrespected. “It wasn’t about going to New Orleans. It was just about how they did it,” Odom said. “I felt a little disrespected. After being here for so long and going through so many things, I felt like they could have just told me and I probably would have accepted it. If someone is telling you that you can’t be here or there’s no more room for you, you got to understand that. I think because it’s just how they did it is the reason why I took it so personal.” It’s obvious now, half way through the 2012 NBA Season, that the Lakers are much worse without Odom. His first season [...]

  • Lamar is a gifted player who is honest, feels deeply and should have never been traded by the Lakers. He felt betrayed and the Mavericks never gave him a chance to really show his stuff! He was TOO GOOD for the Mavs and their personnel. The Lakers staff will be sorry for doing what they did to their Sixth Man of the Year!!
  • The Mavericks were never given the chance to see how well Lamar Odom could play, because he never gave them the effort he needed to give to prove his talent. He just sulked around about being traded, gave one excuse after another as to why he couldn't be at a game, or give any indication that he wanated to be a teamplayer for the Mavericks.
  • The Mavs never gave him a chance? Are you high?? He NEVER gave the Mavs a chance. The Mavs WANTED him - the Lakers DID NOT. Yet he chose to spend his time whining about being traded instead of putting forth the effort he was PAID to put forth. For God's sake, he lived right across the street from the arena and still could not make it to practice on time! Give me a break already! Being a pro ball player in any sport is a privelege....he should think about that the next time he sh*ts on the team that welcomes him with open arms. I feel sorry for the next team that winds up with the crybaby.
  • You're absolutely correct to a certain extent. I don't think it was the Mav's not giving him a chance. He just didn't fit into their system. They already had a set rotation. They just didn't know how to use Lamar's talent. When he was with the Lakers he was the anchor of the second unit. He played the Point-Foward position. He initiated the offense the when he came in the game and he was a facilitator. Dallas didn't know how to incorporate that into their system. Plus, Lamar's head wasn't into the game. He made a rash decision we he went in and demanded a traded because he was hurt that his name came up in the first place. After he realized what he had done, he mentally shut down. He was already dealing with the loss of his cousin, and the traffic collision that led to another death while he was in New York for his cousin's funeral. After all of that, he finds out he's been traded, although the trade had been rescinded, he felt betrayed by to Lakers' organization. That's why he went in and demanded a trade a really didn't want, and that's why he checked out mentally in Dallas.
  • I totally agree with your comments. I hope Lamar gets some counseling and the Lakers wake up and see that the front office has no good decision making skills. The information should not have been leaked as the other rumors of acquisitions and trades were leaked and never happened. That speaks a lot for what the Lakers front office is made of BS.
  • Lamar is just an uneducated ball player and we all a much higher standard. The Kardashians are just brothel material. In Odom's instance people out there that attempt to put him in another catergory than "a good boy/man" make a big mistake.
  • Pardon, we hold Lamar toa much higher standard.
  • Americaputs way to much money into these people that are just regular folks. If America put half the money they use to pay these so called PRO's into helping families that dont have anything then maybe our next generation could grow up with a sort of stable life.Do any of these " Pro's " know anything about poverty after they go to the PAID athlete status.NO they dont. And if they did know anything about it before they made it.They very quickly forget where they came from.Lets stop paying them so much and put that money in to the schools or into a fund for homeless family's.
  • Put a fork in him this guy is done
  • You are crazy...he is a young and very capable player....N0 WHERE DONE.
  • LAMAR ODOM is still a great player and has alot more to give. With all the personal difficulties he has had recently it is understandable he was not ready to jump in and play for a different team. If he was still a Laker he would have been fine, it was certainly all the adjustments he had to make along with the depression. Him and Khloe are a great couple, she has been so good for him. Hopefully Lamar joins a team where he feels comfortable and can get back to himself.
  • Lamar is in a place that I would not like to be in. He got let go my or given a way by the Lakers . It is unfortunate that the Dallas trade did work out. I hope he catches on some were. I do know if is head is the game and have is skills have diminished ?
    I wish him luck.

    Bummble
    ?
  • Why would he retire after having a super bad year? It was only one year, A TOUGH ONE but one one. He just needs to focus on what is important to him and try not to take things so personal when the game is actually a business....
  • He did not even try when he went to Dallas I am sure he was very upset about the why the Laker Organization treated him that was his chance to go to Dallas to let them know it was their loss be professional to me he has been acting childish and pouting growup LAMAR!! things happen

Lamar Odom is traded back to the Clippers

The year was 1999. Lamar Odom was the fourth pick in the NBA Draft, joining a young Los Angeles Clippers team which had just won a horrendously low nine games in the Lockout-shortened 1998-99 season. Whilst the arrival of Odom only resulted in a 15 win season for the severely talent-deprived Clippers, things were starting to look up for LA's other team.  The following season...
